Based in San Francisco, California, Tenaya Insurance Services was established in 2011 by Sarah Smith, a longtime insurance agent specializing in life insurance solutions.

Sarah Smith started her career as a project manager, working on multi-million dollar projects with Bayer HealthCare and Washington Mutual, amongst others. Then, in 2009, she made the transition to insurance, initially working as a captive agent for an insurance provider, dealing exclusively in that company's insurance offerings.
Ultimately, Sarah transitioned to an independent venture, working with a mentor that guided her through the transition from a captive agent to a broker. She feels that one of the most valuable things this mentor taught her in addition to the industry, products, and solutions, was how to be the kind of agent that her clients need and deserve.
Today, Tenaya Insurance Services works with over 100 different insurance companies, which provides clients with a far higher level of service.
